The popularizing of blockchain technology, the awakening program of the open source community
The blockchain technology, which is rooted in the free and open source community, has triggered a fundamental technological revolution that is comparable to the revolution of Internet in 1995. In recent years, blockchain technology has rapidly emerged all over the world. With the characteristics of “open consensus, decentralization, transparent transaction, non-destructive, traceable”, blockchain has become the fourth industrial revolutionary driving force to many industry professionals.
As the founder of Newton, Jizhe Xu, who is also the founder of Zeuux (A Community for Free Software Usage) and the co-founder of Elastos, initiated a promotion program for the awakening of the open source community. The program advocates embracing the blockchain concept and technology in the free and open source community. Since 2018, this program has been successfully generalized in many cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Suzhou, and Shanghai, which has gained enthusiastically responses by many blockchain advocates.

The first stop, Guangzhou, January 6
On January 6, 2018, the Open Source Community Awakening Program — Promoting the Blockchain Technology Public Itinerary Salon was held in Guangzhou. Although there was heavy rain outside the venue, everyone was still present on time and was full of enthusiasm. At the meeting, Mr. Xu, the founder of Newton, gave a wonderful and inspiring speech. Then everyone warmly communicated with each other. This salon enables more engineers and practitioners realize the arrival of the blockchain technology era. At last, the first Guangzhou event of the Open Source Community Awakening Program ended successfully.
The second stop, January 7, Shenzhen,
On January 7, 2018, the Open Source Community Awakening Program — Promoting the Blockchain Technology Public Itinerary Salon came to Shenzhen. This event has gained the support from the Tencent open source team and the Tencent blockchain team. Nearly 200 people participated in this event. Jizhe Xu (the founder of the Open Source Community Awakening Program), Xitong Huang(the director of Tencent Cloud Technology), Qing Qin( the deputy director of Tencent Blockchain Products), Yuyu Liu (the head of BLOCKCHAIN CENTRE China), and Du Yujie( the Expert of Huawei Open Source Strategic Management Team (OSCT)), attended this event as special guests. Experts, professions and practitioners shared their knowledge and opinions on blockchain technology with the audiences. In the roundtable forum, Tencent’s blockchain technology team introduced their product positioning and marketing strategy for the first time, Huawei’s open source leaders also introduced Huawei’s open source strategy, and they all received warm responses from the audiences.
The third stop, January 13, Suzhou,
On January 13, 2018, the Open Source Community Awakening Program — Promoting the Blockchain Technology Public Itinerary Salon arrived in Suzhou. This event has received strong support from universities and local government. The participants were very enthusiastic and excited. The founder of Newton, Mr. Xu gave a wonderful speech and gained widely acknowledgment from the guests and audiences.
The fourth stop, January 14, Shanghai,
On January 14, 2018, the open Source Community Awakening Program — Promoting the Blockchain Technology Public Itinerary Salon arrived in Shanghai. Jizhe Xu (the initiator “the Open Source Community Awakening Program”), Biaowei Zhuang( the cloud product manager of Huawei Software Development Co.), Xiangyu Li (the co-founder and COO of NEM Foundation in China), Yuyu Liu (the head of BLOCKCHAIN CENTRE China), and Jian Jin( the CEO of BLOCKHEADERS) have participated in this event. Though it was a full house with over 100 people, the audience was very much interested in acquiring the latest trends in blockchain technology from these experts.
In the past four decades, the rapid development of the open source software community has proven that freedom, openness, and globalization is the pre-request of creating classic software systems which may benefit all humanity. In 2018, by adhering the philosophy and spirit of free and open source software community, Newton will continue to carry out the “Open Source Community Awakening Program — Promoting the Blockchain Technology Public Itinerary Salon “ to promote the construction of a free and open source community.
